Is the New Align Technology Invisalign Teen® Auxiliary Dangerous?

As an Orthodontist, I like to stay current on the most recent product advancements. I was very excited when I first heard about the Align Technology Precision Wings Launch. This new Invisalign® auxiliary, is already being offered in many countries around the world, but has not yet been released in the US. Subsequently, I started receiving concerned feedback from many Pediatricians, Pediatric Dentists and parents alike that this seemingly harmless addition to the Invisalign Teen® product, may have undesirable consequences on the oral-pharyngeal airway.
It’s true that studies show that advancing the mandible, does open the airway, however, opening the vertical dimension has the opposite effect, it closes-up the airway. Keeping a patent airway during sleep is critical to proper O2 saturation. Without Ideal O2 Levels, many systemic changes occur. If you aren’t familiar with the symptoms and signs of sleep-disordered breathing in kids, please message me.
I encourage Align Technology®, to release any research supporting that Precision Wings® is safe for developing airways before further launching this auxiliary product around the world. Ideally, I’d like to see independent, longitudinal studies completed by pediatric sleep-disordered breathing experts.
Here are two articles of supportive research that I recommend but I have many more just message me and I’ll send them to you, if needed:
