Like it or not, RealSelf.com is talking about you or your product. Click on the site, and you’ll see a network of both existing and prospective global customers, clients and patients talking about you and your brand. Neglecting your brand or profile on the site is surely affecting your bottom line.

RealSelf® is a community-driven site that includes: reviews, rankings, and other basic information about dentistry, dental products and other aesthetic products and services. Simply said, it’s a space where patients talk about you and your brand. The website design allows users to post questions to doctors, write treatment reviews, and share photos of their experiences. Doctors have an opportunity to answer questions in their field of expertise. It’s an excellent way to promote your office and earn the trust of new patients or clients.

Not unlike Yelp®, they do encourage providers to “promote themselves” to increase their presence on the site. There are also opportunities for vendors to advertise. There is a small fee associated with these services. These are optional services and I don’t find the RealSelf® Team to be aggressive in their interactions with doctors or vendors.

Brands cannot answer questions directly, but can work with the RealSelf.com team to build an initial profile and showcase their product. Dental Vendors can and should encourage their providers to answer questions regarding their brands with the ultimate goal of keeping their proverbial “Worth-It” feedback rating above 90%. In my professional opinion, a feedback rating of 80-90% needs work and anything below 80% is a cataclysmic warning that you or your brand has a significant disconnect and needs an overhaul. Have no established “Worth-It Rating” yet? That is a slap-in-the-face to both existing and prospective customers that you don’t value their opinion.
